IMO this question depends highly upon the individual's will to pay for hobby/pleasure type expenses.

It's the same with anything. Golf for example. $200 for 18 holes at a nice golf course isn't unheard of. You'll blow that kind of cash in 4 hours. That's a LOT of gasoline. I'd rather drive my sports cars and enjoy them, and "write off" the cost of higher fuel as an entertainment expense, than not drive my car.
