I think I can answer part of your questions. I don't have a Gallardo but I do have an LP640 and so my experience is a little different. In my case, if I keep the e-gear engaged while in heavy traffic, the clutch slightly engaged. Not enough for the car to roll forward, but it is engaged. As long as my foot is on the brake, it remains engaged. If I take my foot off the brake, it automatically disengages after a few seconds and goes into neutral. I can manually shift to neutral in heavy traffic for less wear on clutch by simply remembering to shift to neutral.
I have read other posts where e-gear owners have had a clutch overheat light go on in heavy traffic. The response to the post was to remember to shift back to neutral when stopped. Not shifting into neutral is the same as slightly riding the clutch. I prefer e-gear, especially in heavy traffic because I don't have to work my leg as much depressing the clutch. I try and remember to shift to neutral as much as possible.
There are going to be slow-rolling situations that are not ideal for either car. I didn't think I would like e-gear but read more posts that were more in favor of it than not and I changed my mind. Now that I have it, I am extremely happy.
As for major problems. I don't see a lot of posts where people are unhappy with their cars overall due to major problems. I would post the questions about the Gallardo on the Gallardo Topic and see what owners have to say. As for miles on a car, I am amazed by the large number of people who don't drive their cars on a daily basis so I think you should be able to find a car with very low miles somewhere.
