I went from an e-gear to a manual and love it.

I had a 05 gallardo with e-gear and driving was ok but traffic was not.I didnt like the paddles not moving with the wheel like BMW and it either jerked a lot at slower speeds or taking off into traffic or when re-adjusted by the dealer it slipped too much, it was a constant job feathering the throttle just right for different situations - mostly slower speeds. Once you got going it was fine. I traded it for a murcielago with 6 speed and I love it so much more. the car is more controllable in traffic and on the open road the absolute control of a manual is more pure feeling. Both have their strong points, but call me when its perfected and I might try another e-gear(but I didnt like the BMW system either with my M-6). creeping into my garage slowly to park was a little wierd with the e-gear for me especailly with a 15 degree driveway incline but now its much more of a calm experince with the manual letting the car pull itslef in instead of revving just enough to catch the clutch on the e-gear.I smelled a lot more clutch on my e-gear as well. On the plus side the e-gear can outshift you but I like trying with manual and being able to roll off a few revs at a stop light every now and then aint so bad either.
Every drive is not on a race course so that should be a consideration as well.

honestly I would be most impressed with a CVT drive in the future.
