Default countach qv ignition module whine HELP

I had an auto electricain put a new immobiliser in my 86 qv. He phoned to say he had problems with it and couldnt get the car started before he insalled the immobilieser. When I got home i though he had just badly flooded the car.
There is now a high pitched whine from the ignition module in the engine bay that I do not remeber from before although I am quite deaf and high pitched nosies can be missed by me. Teh car isnt starting although it occasionalsy splutters whereas before it started very well indeed.
Any ideas? I am hoping he hasnt fried the module somehow?
he had the fuse box down when i arrived and said there were two wires hanging loose and not connected. Again any ideas? mine is a european car int he UK.
Am scared of going to start teh car in case I am causing damage.
I dont recall if I heard the fuel pumps before? do they make any noise one can hear with the ignition on and not chrning the starter?
I know the questions seem odd, but only had the car a few weeks and before i just turned the key and the car started!
Paul
