Lets try and help this guy out here.
As to brakes. On mine (an '05), they will squeek at times --particulary if I had wash the car. The can also get glazzed up. May try "burning them off" by repeated holding them down while driving a mile or so. If you are up to it you can remove the pads and carefully sand/file a layer off.

As to the engine. Could be many (probably trivial) things. If you are getting no engine codes may be marginal gas quality, bad air filter or a bad ground connection. The fact that you get no check engine light surprises me!
