Default A Great New Owner Story

Originally Story by Tomf-1

Greetings to all.

Earlier this month, I listed my 03 Murci with RoyCats. A few days ago, another long time and well respected Fchat member contacted me about the vehicle. He was about purchase a F430 but has been secretly lusting about the "dark side" and saw this beautiful vehicle as a mean. This buyer said he'd be very comfortable in dealing direct to Roy but felt a tad more at ease talking to the owner and a fellow Fchatter direct so we agree to protect Roy if the deal comes to fruition. We briefly discussed my limited ownership history (+two months) and tentatively agreed on fair vehicle valuation IF everything checked out.

Being a very detail oriented person, this "gentleman" did a very complete background research of the service records and in the process, he discovered the 15k service wasn't performed as stated in my advertisement so he immediately brought it to my attention. I felt terrible and after some independent fact-finding on my own, I confirmed his findings. I apologized and took responsibility for my misrepresentation (unknowingly) and immediately instructed Roy to remove the car off his website for liability reason until I can gather more information. By the way, I was ENTIRELY responsible for the content of the listing on Roy's website since I was the one providing Roy with all the info. about my vehicle.

In the meantime, through the assistance of multiple authorized Lambo dealerships around the country, the buyer was able to tap into Lamborghini database and got access to the car's complete service records.....and I mean COMPLETE tracing back to its birthplace and birthdate in Italy. He also found that this is a NEAR perfect car, a no story car (excluding the disparity of maintenance record) so he still very much wanted the car but asked for reconsideration of the original discussed terms (rightfully so as I'd have done the same thing). After some discussion and financial compromises, we agree on the sale. However, since the service record was a subject of proof, the buyer, for prosperity measure insisted a complete PPI done at an authorized Lamborghini dealership. The 1st problem: The closest one to me is 600 miles away (Lambo of Dallas) and the one closest to him is 10 miles away (Lambo of OC). The second problem: I won't let the car shipped without being paid and the buyer won't pay without PPI, such conundrum......

--The buyer and I discussed various options and we finally decided it would be best if Roy would buy the car from me direct. This way, he will pay for it in full and take full ownership/risk of the vehicle but would he do that for $1k service? Is it a lot to ask? Absolutely. Did Roy think twice when asked? Absolutely NO. Roy's reply "Heck, if this is what it takes to put another Lambo into the garage of another Ferrari loyalist, I shall gladly do it and If all fails, I'd own another Murci". Roy bought the car last night from me AS IS.

-Roy went even one step further enough and let the buyer ship the car to LOC and he assured the buyer that if the car doesn't pass PPI, he will own it (I think Roy forgot that he already owned it ). At this writing, I have four things in my possession, a signed purchase order from Cat Exotics, a payment-in-full being overnight to me this morning, the title and a beautiful Murci parking comfortably in my garage. Although, it's nice to be trusted but Roy, you are a CRAZY BASTID !!!!

-Lastly, Roy said to me "Don't worry about the $1,000 fee...This listing is on me. WTH?. I literally had to take time off my busy schedule to argue with him on the phone and finally convinced him to accept this "token" fee.

I really don't want to make another "feel good Roy" thread but Roy, you truly HAVE outdone yourself.....I swear you'd PROSTITUTE your body for Lamborghini (not that anyone would want it). You are a true car guy first and foremost and everything else you do is fueled by your passion for the cars.

Ps: You also have a case of Mondavi Reserve on the way for you. Your title will be FedEx monday morning.....and btw, the answer to your question is NO, you still can't sleep with my fiancee

The Conclusion to the Story

O.K. - I've been patiently waiting to complete this thread. I thought it best to wait until the entire transaction was complete before posting the final chapter.

Yesterday, I became the very proud and excited owner of my first Lambo. A beautiful 2003 Murcielago (Please see separate thread about the new Murci)

To recap briefly: I've owned (3) Ferraris in the past and was looking at a F430 when I read Tomf-1's post about his need to get into an E-Gear (for a very commendable reason I might add) Well, after a nice conversation with Tom about the Murci, I began my detailed research about the car's history and found some inconsistencies with some of items listed about the car - nothing major but inconsistent none the less.

Tom was surprised and immediately looked into the information he was given. He confirmed it was incorrect, and in an outstanding act of character took all of the responsibility. Tom purchased the car on trust that the dealer's description of the Murci was accurate, unfortunatley it was not.

From this point I found that there are a lot of GREAT people in our Lambo community. And I was lucky enough to have them all involved with this car.

TomF-1 stepped up and confirmed all of the facts and literally "took the bullet" for the dealer.

Grant from Lamborghini of Orange County stepped in and was very, very helpful. He took time out of his busy day to not only review the research and vehicle history I compiled, but called on a few items he was concerned about just to verify things were as they should be. (Grant's the BEST!)

This is when Roy, of Cats Exotics stepped in to help. Understand that Roy didn't even sell Tom the car originally!

In an amazing act of "Support for converting a Ferrari owner to the Dark Side" Roy stepped in and facilitated the deal. I know Roy made 0 money on this transaction. Not only did he step in to help make this happen, he:
1) Purchased the car out right to make the PPI work for both TomF-1 and I.
2) Actually GUARANTEED the car would pass the PPI or he would take it back! (He didn't even have the car! it came to me straight from Tom)
3) When the PPI uncovered a few minor things - HE COVERED THE COST FOR REPAIR - just to make sure I was 110% happy - (I know he lost more money on this.)
4) To help expedite my registration, Roy even overnighted me the Title for the car before he had my final check!

I've seen alot of threads about Roy on a number of forums and honestly have had different feelings about dealing with him. After this transaction I can honestly say he is THE MAN! He put aside making a buck just to help out two enthusiasts.

We read a lot of stuff on various forums some bad and some good. This post is one of the really good stories with really good people. Thanks again to all involved: TomF-1, Grant of Lambo of OC and the crazy man Roy (your case of the good stuff is on its way!)
