Bryan, if you old compressor is working well, to convert to 134(WHICH I WOULD NOT EVEN CONSIDER DOING), all you have to do is change the oil, flush the system, and install a new the rec/dryer. If you are doing that I would also change all the hoses, as the old hose most likely needs changing anyway.
