I agree with you in the sense that there were problems you're not able to see immediately, about the odo I don't know.
I just can say that the previous owner didn't drive the car very much but for sure had no senses for mechanical issues.
Remember there is another black LP5000s suffering the same problem with the casting sand in the engine. This is not the fault of the former owners, the gearbox is for sure and also the incapable mechanic who replaced the clutch and did other things wrong (working over 20 years on lambo...)
As long as the oil pressure is OK you don't realize the problem with the sand, on Tahiti it was found only because the oil pressure valve was blocked causing a pressure of more than 10 bars which finally broke the head gasket seal ring letting oil into water.
If this didn't happen the damage inside the engine would have been even worse...
As mentioned, the gearbox is another theme, obviously the syncros were turned (you can use them on both sides) and then some screws and nuts were not fixed correctly.
I'm eased I'm no more bringing my cars to that mechanic and found Marcel instead 2 years ago...
