In reading this discussion, it reminded me of a question I've been meaning to ask.

I have a 6.0 and keep it on a lift in my garage. Every time I look underneath it I ask the question, why are there so many little tabs that look like panels should be attached to them?

They are all over the place! And there is only one panel under the front drive shaft. I know nothing was ever there because the undercoating would have an imprint.

There are even tabs in the back where the exhaust exits from the muffler.

Enlighten me?
