Back to the topic... I think Lambo can and should come up with a lightened Murcielago something of an SV or GT, rear wheel drive and bare interior. Something to homologate the Murcielago R-GT. Its all possible and would be down to marketing decision.

However for the Murcielago replacement, I speculate around 2009/2010 I think some major redesign of the chassis may be required. The Murcie chassis is essentially square tubular steel which evolved from the first Countach. Long time. They might add more carbon composite sections or use Audi's aluminium expertise and use aluminium space frames or bonded aluminium extrusions like the Gallardo and now even the 599GTB.

They experimented both a monocoque and tubular steel for the Countach and the latter was chosen because it had the most stability for the kind of power the Countach was expected to make though that chassis was very expensive to make. This chassis design could be nearing its limit with the latest Murcielago.
