Well, yes by default. It is very difficult for a private party to sell these types of cars outright to other private parties. They may need financing, or have a trade in. Neither of which a private seller can accommodate.
Not to mention, do you want every Tom, Dick, and Harry coming over to your house? You know they are going to want a test drive.
Unfortunately, sometimes the only way to sell the car is through the dealer.
Now the depreciation dilemma comes full circle.
