I can agree with that- let's have the Italians design it (they are, with the Gallardo and Murcielago). Germans are good at engineering- look at Porsche, revered to be some of the best sports cars in the world- but has the design ever been heart-achingly beautiful, reminiscent to a Lamborghini or other such Italian supercar? I think the best example is BMW. Unbelievable cars- on the inside. The outside? Mediocre, at best. The new(ish) 5-Series, especially, has a commanding presence, but it really is awfully ugly.
On the design at Lamborghini since the Germans moved in: the Miura was the most beautiful Lamborghini (arguably the most beautiful production car ever), but I personally did not like the Countach at all. The Diablo was moderatley better, but left a lot to be desired, in my opinion. The Murci and Gallardo, developed under Audi, are not the Miura but are an improvment over their most recent predecessors.
