After building a twin-turbo Lamborghini LP640 that laid down 1000-hp, Underground Racing has just announced even bigger and better things for the LP670-4 SV.
Rumor has it that Underground Racing wants to claim the title of fastest Murciélago in the world with this LP670-4 SV. Their engineers are claiming that they'll be putting down 1,100-hp out of this beast. We're guessing it won't be long until we feast our eyes on dyno videos and some high-speed runs. And to top it off, we're digging the fact that this LP670-4 SV is paired up with a set of HRE Wheels; anything less on an 1,100-hp Lamborghini would be blasphemous.
Couldn't get your hands on one of the 20 Lamborghini Reventóns in the world? Or just couldn't afford the steep $1.25 million dollar price tag? Well have no fear, you can get your hands on a Lamborghini Reventón in remote controlled form thanks to De Agostini.
The 1:10 scale RC car is powered by a two-stroke 3cc gas engine with a two-speed transmission and all-wheel drive. To give the RC car the proper performance worthy of the Lamborghini tag, independent suspension, hydraulic shocks and disc brakes are also included.
The model is amazingly close to the real life vehicle with plenty of attention to detail. No pricing has been released, but production will be limited to 65 – roughly three times more than the real deal. We're going to guess its limited production will make it worth a pretty penny.
We've seen quite a few Middle Easterners cruising around London in funny-colored exotics recently, two of which were famously booted a couple of weeks back. Now, London police have impounded a matte-pink Lamborghini Murcielago LP670 SV for revving loudly…. with a cop directly behind him. According to an eyewitness:
"Al-Thani Koenigsegg CCXR and Murcielago LP670-4 SV were just leaving Sloane street to go for a drive, as he pulls away in the SV he started to rev loudly. A few cars behind was the Matt pink LP670-4 SV which also started to rev. Unfortunatly he hadn't noticed the police car behind! They pulled him over for revving, then asked to see various documents, a couple of which he did not have on him. They then said they would impound the car until the documents were produced, and reg plate changed to a UK spec one as the Qatar plates are illegal!"
Some are arguing that the engine revving is actually a motorcycle that's right in front of the Lambo, but we know the sound of an unleashed V12 when we hear one, watch the video of the whole incident after the jump, including the officer trying to start up and drive away the SV without much success.
With sales of its models slumping so far this year Lamborghini is reconsidering expanding its range of models, which could mean the Estoque concept is back on the drawing board. While no green light has yet been given to the project, Lambo CEO Stephan Winkelmann recently commented in an interview with Bloomberg that, "A third model would fit Lamborghini very well," and that in an effort to expand the Italian automaker's lineup, "A four-door car would be a very feasible approach."
Seemingly a segment that's too niche, four-door sports cars are becoming increasingly popular with the Maserati Quattroporte, Aston Martin Rapide and the successful Porsche Panamera – which has already sold 25,000 units.
Winkelmann commented that in order to make a third model feasible it would need to be a higher volume model with a "real leap" in sales. Based on numbers from Porsche, a four-door Lambo would seem like a definite cash cow, possibly doubling the automaker's overall sales.
So far this year, Lamborghini has managed to move 674 units, down 18 percent from the year before. Interestingly, the brand is increasing sales in growth-markets like China where it saw dramatic growth. That just so happens to be a market where large luxury sedans (like a 4-door Lamborghini) sell well.
Plans to build the Estoque concept into a production model were reportedly shelved when the economy dropped off, but with a recovery in sight, Lambo may look to put the 4-door project back on track. Recently, rumors of an entry-level V8 model and even an SUV have also surfaced. Winkelman did not comment on either of those models.
